What are your food loves?
I am a huge fan of red peppers, I eat them like apples. I think it’s something to do with the way they crunch! Of course they’re also the bite me. symbol which just goes to show what a special vegetable they are!
Any guilty pleasures?
Everything in moderation, but like any teenage girl I can’t resist a really good chocolate bar! Also apples! I absolutely love them, my whole family does and they make up the bulk of our weekly shop! My favourite types are Empire, Granny Smith and Pink Lady.
Do you have a favourite bite me. recipe?
They’re all really good but I think my favourite has got to be the guacamole. It’s an old family recipe that has been handed down one member’s family for years! It’s particularly delicious with tons of lemon juice and really salty nachos.
What are your cooking abilities like - got any specialties?
I’ve always loved cooking especially when I get to enjoy the outcome. I think there is something so satisfying about eating and most importantly enjoying something you’ve made from scratch! I’m definitely no Nigella Lawson and there is still the odd cake that comes out looking like a biscuit but overall I like to think I’m not a bad cook. Practice makes perfect though and hopefully over the years I’ll only get better.
Do you know of any food or ingredient that you could recommend that we might not have tried?
When making the stuffed aubergines on page 35 (which are delicious by the way, even if I do say so myself) I was told that mushroom ketchup really helps bring out the flavour. As I’m not a huge mushroom fan I was a bit dubious but it was delicious! It’s not anything like your traditional tomato ketchup, it’s more of a slightly salty but sweet sauce. I now use it on pretty much anything savoury that I cook!
